Hi y'all! How are you? Yesterday I had a 3D/4D ultrasound of Little Soul. My baby did *not* cooperate at all, constantly moving, and facing my spine. This pic is an edited version of the clearest pic I got (I edited it by creating the outline of the profile and blacking out everything that didn't seem essential to the picture.) It's likely that this pic isn't anything near accurate, due to Little Soul's moving about, but this pic will have to hold me until the grand arrival in March when I can see my baby's precious face, "for real" :) Little Soul moves a lot, no longer tickles, but stretches, punches, and kicks. I'm still loving all of it, and feel blessed to be having a healthy pregnancy! I hope this finds all of you happy and well. *Peace*! ~melissa :)

Just checkin' in to say HI! Last month my hubby, my son and I went to Texas to visit family, friends and loved ones. The weather there was beautiful and we got to go swimming! I know this isn't a glamorous picture but I really love my pregnant shape and wanted to show it off :) I'm at 21 weeks now, and Little Soul moves all the time, tickling me from the inside! It's so cool being the vessel for Little Soul, and I'm really enjoying this pregnancy (as I enjoyed carrying my firstborn, too!) I hope this finds you all happy and well! ****Peace***! ~melissa :)

I am so pleased to announce that on Monday April 23rd the Pentacle was officially approved by the VA as an acceptable emblem of belief for our fallen soldiers. Most of you know that my song "Symbol" was named the Anthem for the Quest by Selena Fox of Circle Sanctuary. I feel honored to support the celebration of all faiths in this way. With Gratitude, | | Hi everyone! I just wanted to make you aware of a project that Todd Bernston (Center Path Publishing and Witchy Films) and I are working called 1,000 Symbols. We are working hard to get as many people as possible to participate in the Celebration of Spiritual Diversity in this county. Our primary goal this year is to have the month of June designated as "National Spiritual Diversity Month." The US is one of the few industrialized nations that does not have an officially recognized national day/week/month for religious tolerance or spiritual diversity. We are trying to change that. Here's the deal. About 30 artists, writers, and musicians from all over the world have donated a piece of their work that in some way promotes spiritual diversity. All of these works can be downloaded for FREE from our website during the month of June. I will be contributing the finished studio version of "Symbol" off my June release of Red Alabaster and Blue. All that you have to do is go to our website www.1000symbols.com and sign the petition to declare the month of June "National Spiritual Diversity Month" with your name and email address. The list of supporters will be included with an application for a national declaration and sent to the White House. Once you add your name to the list of supporters, you will receive an email thanking you for your support. On June 1st, you will receive another email with a link to the download page so you can download all of the free gifts of art, music, and written word that our nation's artists have so graciously donated to this cause. You don't have to wait until June to sign up, you can do it today by going to our website: http://www.1000symbols.com We would also appreciate it if you would forward this information to your friends or anyone else who would like to support spiritual diversity. AND If you know an artist, musician, poet, writer, flim maker who's work(s) would fit into our theme. Please have them contact me at celia@1000symbols.com In love and light, Celia Ps: On another note. Hi y'all! How are you? Happy Spring! I just uploaded a cute homemade video of my kittygirls Noodle and Black Maria, and on it I feature part of a Freddie Hubbard composition "Up Jumped Spring", performed by my favorite sax player Mark Colby, with Vince Maggio on piano. It "fell together" perfectly, hooray for serendipity! I'm finally learning how to use Windows Movie Maker :) Please click the link to see frisky Noodle and the lovely Black Maria!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0-jRRX-As0 "Up Jumped Spring", and up jumped Noo... "Up Jumped Spring", and up jumped Noodle! On this lovely Spring day, Noodle wanted the window open, and Black Maria joined her, which is rare as Maria usually avoids Noodle! The music is from one of my most favorite albums, Mark Colby's "Reunion with Vince Maggio". I felt Vince's piano solo described Noodle's movements perfectly, especially the tail-wagging and the shoulder twitches. Mark's beautiful sax becomes the lovely, silky Black Maria, especially during Maria's close-up.
If you love good Jazz, look up Mark Colby on Amazon.com (you'll be glad you did!)
HAPPY SPRING!!! :) (more)

Hi, y'all! Hope you're enjoying the arrival of Spring and more daylight, I know *I* am! I know I haven't written in my journal in awhile, just been busy, and busy is good!
I was thinking of some songs where the lyrics I'd *hear* weren't the ones that were written. Some of my favorites are:
Dancing Queen: "You can dance, you can jive" (I'd hear: "Usin' gas, usin' guys")
Maggie May: "My love you didn't need to coax" (I'd hear: "My Love, you didn't need two Cokes")
And my favorite, as I used to think this was really "dirty": Cisco Kid: "Eats the salted peanuts from the can" (I'd hear: "His exalted penis from Japan") (!!!!)
I hope this gives you a giggle for April Fool's Day. What are *your* favorite misheard lyrics? ;)

Hi y'all, how are you? I'm a happy camper, counting down to when I see my son in just 14 days :) :) :) I'd been so busy I never got around to writing a review of the Kasim Sulton concert at The Abbey Pub in Chicago, 1-27-07. The short version: I went by Greyhound to see my Soul Sis in Chicago and for once I didn't have a misadventure with Greyhound, heh! We went to her place to freshen up then headed out to the show. We got there a little late but were treated to an *awesome* concert at the very intimate Abbey Pub. Kasim sounded great, his voice pure and strong, and Doug Kennedy expertly backed him up. There were lots of Utopian favorites and some new treasures that will be on Kasim's new CD set. Our friends Metalunatic and HighVibes were there, and we got to hang out during and after the show. Also my Soul Sis met up with Doug after the show and it turns out they were pen-pals a long time ago! Small world, "One World"!!! We partied with our friends late into the evening then Soul Sis and I went to her place to crash. The next day we went to Woodfield Mall for shopping and lunch, then I had a blissfully uneventful bus ride home. Please click on the link below to see Metalunatic's video of "One World"... Hi y'all, how are you? It's hard to believe, exactly one week ago this very moment I was with my Soul Sis at the Abbey Pub in Chicago, seeing Kasim Sulton with Doug Kennedy! It was an awesome show, we hooked up with some good friends and had an *amazing* time! I hope to write about it my next post, got something else on my mind today. So, my last post was about seeing Vince Welnick in not just one dream but TWO dreams, and the experience to me felt like a "message"... and since the dreams, I'd been trying to remember if I ever met him in person. I knew he was with Todd Rundgren's "Nearly Human" tour, and I saw that in Anaheim, CA, in 1990. Anyway, after the Kasim show in Chicago I talked to Doug Kennedy and it turns out he's a Utopia fan from way back and got the Utopia Times, the newsletter for Todd/Utopia fans like me. When I returned home from Chicago I decided to search for some of my old newsletters. It took hours of digging around but I found most of my issues, and even found an old "wanted" ad for a tape, from Doug. I also found several pics of my Soul Sis and stuff from my then-friend-now-hubby Chris. But the most *interesting* thing I found was a yellowed, handwritten "review" of Todd's "Nearly Human" show in Anaheim. It turns out I gave Vince a white carnation at the show, this is what I wrote: "I brought Vince's flower, stood there and called his name. He turned and looked at me, and as I held out the flower he gestured 'for me?' with genuine surprise! I said 'Yes!' and when I returned to my seat Scott (my then-husband) said, "He looked surprised! You probably made his night!" I just glowed..." The date of this encounter? January 20, 1990. This show was particularly notable for two non-Todd-related reasons. This was the only show my then-husband Scott attended with me, and I would find out later that I was carrying our beautiful baby boy :) Reading my old words somehow put to rest the "why?" feeling I had been carrying around since the first dream. Seventeen years before the first dream, almost to the *day* (am off by less than a week!) I did a random act of kindness for Vince. Yes, in that limited way, I met Vince, and it was a most happy occasion. Perhaps that's why he showed up to me in my dreams, knowing that I'd tell anyone who cares. Vince, wherever you are now, feel free to "visit" me again. You're coolness. Peace, ~melissa :)

| Security: | Public |
| Mood: | happy | | Music: | The Tubes "Now" |
Hi, all, how are you? I'm fine, more than fine, as tomorrow I go to Chicago to see Kasim Sulton with my Soul Sis Kris :)
It's been a strange couple of weeks, it all started with a dream I had Jan. 14 that felt so vivid and real and left me with a deep feeling of happiness and hope. The dream made me feel as if I'd been trusted to deliver a message, so I shared my dream on a page of the Todd Rundgren Connection devoted to Vince. This is what I wrote:
"I was sitting in a bathtub in some old house and suddenly felt a man's presence standing nearby. I peeked around the corner and saw Vince Welnick's ghost. I scrambled to get out of the tub, yelling "OMG WE'VE MISSED YOU HOW *ARE* YOU?!?" and he smiled and said he was "okay". We talked a bit, I don't know what about, then we sat in a comfortable silence before the dream changed to a different subject.
The funny thing is, I hadn't thought about Vince or the Tubes in some time (and I don't think much about the Grateful Dead at all) so this was totally out of the blue. The last time I'd had a dream like this it was about the deceased father of some kids I knew where I worked, and the theme was the same, a message saying "I'm okay". Maybe it's just wishful thinking or the nonsense ramblings of my subconscious, but maybe it's something more... and maybe it can bring comfort to someone who cares... so I offer it here. I want to believe last night's dream holds a special message of comfort and peace, from Vince, and FOR Vince."
(For anyone reading this who doesn't know who Vince Welnick was, he was an awesome musician who was in the Tubes and also the Grateful Dead. The pic above is from Todd Rundgren's album "2nd Wind". Vince took his own life 6-2-06 and is sorely missed.)
I got some positive feedback on my post, and am grateful others understand why I shared my dream. I thought about the dream the next few days while going about my business as usual. Then, a couple of days ago I found an old videotape and watched to find a "media kit" for Todd Rundgren's album "Nearly Human". I enjoyed this old video, and had forgotten that Vince was on it. So, I saw him on the video, the first time I saw him since my dream. After an initial pang of sadness I was fine with seeing him on the video, in fact, it cheered me :)
Then, last night I saw Vince in my dreams AGAIN! I was at a flea market similar to the one I visited last July, perhaps it was the same place. I remember the bright warm summer sun, and the tents and trailers. I happily strolled and browsed, and then suddenly Vince was walking beside me. He seemed to be in a good mood, even exuberant! He asked me if I'd told others about my Jan. 14 dream. I said "Yes!" and he seemed pleased. We talked for a moment before he disappeared. My first dream left me feeling peaceful and "good" inside, and last night's dream left me feeling giddy... I've been in an inexplicably good mood all day. I have no idea what Vince would be doing at a flea market, it was a place *I* liked to be.
The weirdest thing about all of this is, I've thought more about Vince these past 2 weeks than in my entire lifetime! So I'm sure something's "up"... and I don't know why he'd appear to *me*, except for what a dear friend said, that I'm good at writing and keeping contact with people. If he wanted someone to spread a message for him he could count on me... and that's what I think is most likely going on. I've also been thinking about the deeper meanings, too... it's been a real head trip, but thankfully a positive one.
Peace! ~melissa :)
